What is a COI?
A COI is a Certificate of Additional Insured. In an insurance policy, an additional insured refers to anyone other than the policyholder who is covered by an insurance policy. Named insured is the person or company that owns the insurance policy and is identified on the declaration page of the policy form. When you buy insurance, you become the named insured. Additional insured gets extended coverage under someone else’s insurance policy without controlling the policy.
Why are we asking for this document?
For each overnight group or large event we host, our liability insurance company requires us to either submit a COI from the group's own insurance company OR pay $115 per guest group. We would MUCH prefer to give them a COI from you rather than charge you $115! Most insurance companies will provide this document for free or cheap.
Details
- For your retreat, the COI is limited to the time that you spend with us - usually a single event - so your specific retreat dates will be listed.
- Your COI covers your organization from April 1-March 31 each year, for up to 1,000 guests total.
- Contact your insurance agent and have them send you a .pdf of the COI, then simply forward the COI to our business manager, Wendell Seaver, at business@vcconferences.org.
