Exploring our Inner Voices through SoulCollage®

with Sheree Sloop
Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4, 2024

$253 full program (with lodging + meals)
$163 commuter (breakfast/lunch)

Who’s running your show?  During this workshop we will use our imagination/intuition to create personal collaged cards using simple materials.  You will receive a box with all the supplies you’ll need. There will be additional boxes of images available that you may sort through to find the images that speak to you. Then, we will consult our cards using questions designed to help us uncover the wisdom within the cards and within ourselves. SoulCollage® readings are full of “a-ha!” moments, profound, meaningful and inspiring because all we need to know is already inside of us! Come discover your deepest truth.

SoulCollage® is an expressive arts practice done individually or in community. Founded by Seena B. Frost, the method develops creativity and intuition, encourages self-discovery, and provides personal guidance.

SoulCollage® meets you wherever you are on this journey called life. You don’t have to be an artist to make SoulCollage® cards. Anyone can create and enjoy this powerful practice.

This workshop is for the beginner as well as for those who have already begun their SoulCollage® journey.

Andi Dandelion
Program in Crab Orchard Hall
$51.50 covers snacks, materials, and a fabulous facilitator

Using a mixture of rusted metals and alum, we will make a boiling pot of mordant in which to print the essence of collected plants on cardstock paper. This technique falls under the simple and satisfying category of printing. It is often full of surprises and beauty. Additionally, we will be mono-printing found natural objects using ink and paper. Please join Andi and bring a healthy dose of curiosity and a willingness to inspire and be inspired by others on their creative journeys.

Beginning to Love Printmaking with Andi Dandelion
Saturday, October12, 2024

Join us here in the High Country as the leaves begin to change and the mountains are covered in
glorious colors. In this beginner's level class, you will gain a working knowledge of basic
printmaking skills.

We will explore the use of positive and negative space to create an image. Once a block is
complete, you will have the opportunity to transfer your hand carved image from the block to a
wide selection of different paper surfaces. Additionally, you will be able to print using a variety of
colors and experiment with how color influences an image's presentation. By the end of the
workshop, you will have created a tiny print (3x2in) as well as a postcard sized (4x6in) print. You
are encouraged to think about what images you are interested in creating and bring any objects
or pictures that might inspire you.

Come grow in faith during the most beautiful time of year in the High Country! Daily hikes of varying abilities will be offered by Holy Hikes of WNC as well as morning and evening talks this year's speaker, the Rev. Dr. Timothy Ross. Tim Ross--a pastor, professor, missionary, spouse, dad, citizen of the Western Cherokee Nation who lives in Johnson City--will share on the intersection of Christian spirituality and Native wisdom and spirituality.

In the 1980’s and 90’s, Tim and his family lived among the Maasai of Kenya. Tim pastored the Hopwood Christian Church at Milligan University from 1996-2023. He is an instructor for Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan and a consultant with NAIITS, a seminary created by Christians of the First Nations. Tim is Director of Pastoral Care for Christian Missionary Fellowship International. His loves include time with family, tending bees, and walking the mountains.

Explore local hiking trails in the fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Different hiking abilities and mobilities are welcome. You can also choose to enjoy downtime at the retreat center, local spas, the nearby Nordic sauna, visit nearby Boone, Banner Elk, or Blowing Rock, or drive through the country on  mountain roads. Join us in the high country this fall to hike, grow in faith, and encounter the God who made it all.
